Welcome back to our #TEAMTHURSDAY slot where we take the opportunity to showcase one of our rising stars here in the Talbot Hotel Clonmel.
Today, we want to introduce you to Patryk Badyna
You will find Patryk based in our main ‘Wheat Bar & Bistro’ as our Bar Manager.
When we interviewed Patryk for this little slot, we were delighted to learn so much more about our wonderful colleague.
𝙒𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢?
Born in Poland, Kraków. I moved to Ireland when I was 12, it was a difficult start because I started school with absolutely no English, but luckily with the great support of a couple of my past Teachers I was able to learn the language very fast.
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥?
I started in 2016 as a Kitchen Porter & moved to the Food & Beverage Department to be a barman. I was mainly doing bar work & eventually I moved to be a waiter while still working behind the bar on weekends. After some time in the Food & Beverage Department I was promoted to the Trainee Manager position.
Shortly after that I was given an opportunity & promoted to the position of Duty Manager.
I stayed in that role for approximately 3 years learning as much as possible & now I’m happy to say I am the Bar Manager.
So, in 2 Months’ time I will be here in Clonmel for 8 years.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐥?
The unknown! You never know what to expect, no two days are the same & that is exactly what I love about this job in hospitality.
There is no other industry like this, the possibility of meeting people from all over the world, the stories that they bring it’s extraordinary.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐛𝐛𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐥?
I’m a bit of a DIYer, since I bought my own house, I’ve been renovating it bit by bit & I really enjoy it, from paining to tiling to making furniture out of wood.
I also enjoy working with computers, if there is a problem around the Hotel that involves computers, projectors, Tv’s I’m the guy they usually call.
𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟?
Not everyone knows but I’m 27 years old, married & have 2 beautiful sons.
One is 6 years old and the other one is 2 years old.
I am very fortunate also that I get the opportunity to work with my wife on a daily basis here in the hotel, this is an absolute privilege and one that the hospitality industry can offer, that is another reason why I love this business!
