Fishing Breaks

The River Suir rises in the Devil's Bit near Money gall in Co. Tipperary & flows in a southerly direction past Templemore, through Thurles & Cahir to the boundary between counties Tipperary & Waterford.

Babbling stream, gently flowing river or broad lake: game or coarse, novice or expert: no matter what kind of angler you are, nor what stretch of water you most love to cast a line over, Tipperary has it all. Thanks to its ideal habitat the Suir is plentiful with trout & salmon, it is renowned as a dry fly fishing location & its excellent access makes it a favourite with anglers.

The best of the salmon fishing extends downstream from Ardfinnan towards Carrick on Suir. The Suir mainly gets a run of grilse & summer fish, and the two best fishing months are June & September. Downstream of Clonmel the Suir is broad & deep with productive shallow glides. From Clonmel to Kilsheelan it holds good stocks of trout.
