At the Talbot Hotel Clonmel we are delighted to showcase our mini-wildflower meadow at the front of the hotel.
This gives a natural, relaxed feel to attract pollinating insects and other wildlife to the hotel grounds. This area provides cover, food and a lovely resting space for birds, bees, and butterflies. This mini meadow helps promotes our gardens biodiversity.
Our wildflower mini meadow was started from seed, with a bare weed-free ground at the front of the hotel.
Sowing seeds directly into a lawn is rarely successful – even if they germinate, the resulting seedlings will have to compete with the existing dense turf and are unlikely to survive.
We did not use any artificial fertiliser in this area, we just utilised some of our used coffee grounds to help enrich the soil.
Being located at the front of the hotel this space gets full sun and well-drained soil.
